Land Rover has officially announced plans to offer a Range Rover Evoque Convertible.
Preview by the Evoque Cabrio concept, the production model will become the "world's first premium compact SUV convertible" when it goes on sale in 2016.
Land Rover didn't have much to say about the model but they confirmed they tested a prototype 40 meters (131.2 feet) below the streets of London in a 26-mile (42km) network of Crossrail tunnels. The company says this enabled engineers to drive the crossover in complete privacy with its roof down.
There's no word on specifications but the engine options will likely carryover from the facelifted Evorque which will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show later this week.
