It looks like the Jeep faithful can breathe another sigh of relief as a new report is indicating the next-generation Wrangler will keep its solid axles.

While there had been speculation that they could be dropped to save weight, Automotive News is reporting the solid axles have been given a reprieve. The publication goes on to says the SUV's suspension will largely carryover but receive some minor updates to improve efficiency and ride quality.

The company is still finalizing their plans for the model but previous reports have indicated it will have an aluminum body, turbocharged engines and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Automotive News is also reporting the fold-down windshield will become a thing of the past as the next-generation Wrangler will reportedly feature a fixed windscreen that is steeply raked.
