Germany's Borgward is being resurrected following an absence of more than 50 years.

Details are limited but Borgward President Christian Borgward has revealed the company will unveil their future plans at the Geneva Motor Show. The company was coy on specifics but Borgward said relaunching the brand has been a "childhood dream" of his that's about to become a reality.

His sentiments were echoed by his business partner, Karl Heinz Knöss, who stated "A decade ago, we started to plan and now we're ready for our next step. Inspired by the values and the innovative spirit behind the brand Borgward and with firm determination to succeed, we will open a new chapter in the history of our company."

While the Borgward name might not ring any bells, the company was founded by Carl FW Borgward in 1919. Over the course of the next 42 years, the company produced everything from sports cars to helicopters. Their most famous cars were the Hansa 1500, Isabella and P100.
