Mercedes has announced the 1938 540 K Streamliner will be one of their star attractions at Retromobile.

Billed as the predecessor to the S-Class Coupe, the 540 K Streamliner has an aluminum body and an aerodynamic design complete with underbody cladding. Thanks to its advanced styling, the car has a drag coefficient of 0.36 which is still pretty good for today's standards.

A supercharged 5.4-liter eight-cylinder engine resides under the hood and produces 180 PS (132 kW). This enables the coupe to hit a top speed of 185 km/h (115 mph).

Besides the 540 K Streamliner, Mercedes will showcase a 1953 300 SL racing prototype and the 1970 C 111 concept. The automaker will also highlight the AMG GT and the S63 AMG Coupe.
