Volvo introduced the C30 Electric over four years ago but we haven't heard much about their pure electric vehicles since then. That changes today as Volvo's newly appointed Senior Vice President of the Americas has revealed EVs have been pushed to the back burner.

Speaking to Autocar, Lex Kerssemakers said the company is primarily focused on rolling out plug-in hybrids. However, he noted “Once there is a more sustainable business case behind full electric vehicles we can do it - our platform is scalable and fully flexible."

In the meantime, Kerssemakers says plug-in hybrids off the "best of both worlds" as they combine fuel efficiency with theability to drive on electricity alone.
