Renault has announced plans to introduce a compact crossover called "Kadjar." Goes on sale this fall.
Renault has announced plans to introduce a compact crossover called "Kadjar."
The rather peculiar name comes from KAD (inspired by quad) which expresses the vehicle's four-wheel drive capabilities while JAR is a reference to the French words “agile” and “jaillir” meaning agility and "suddenly emerging from somewhere." Official images are not available at this point but Renault says they will post teaser pics & videos on social media every day until February 2 when the crossover will be fully revealed.
Other details are not available at this point but it is believed the Kadjar will be heavily based on the second generation Nissan Qashqai. Slotting above the Captur, the new crossover will ride on the CMF platform co-developed with Nissan and should get a design influenced by the aforementioned Captur.
A public debut is scheduled for March at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, with sales to commence this fall. It will be followed in 2016 by the larger second-gen Koleos already confirmed to make a comeback.
