Caught undergoing testing near the Arctic Circle, this prototype is virtually production ready as it features a unique front bumper with revised air intakes. The car has also has a new rear bumper with an integrated diffuser that is flanked by a four-tailpipe sports exhaust system. Additional styling changes are limited but we can see a trunk-mounted spoiler, high-performance brakes and lightweight alloy wheels.

Under the hood, we can expect to see a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that develops about 380 PS (279 kW). This should enable the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in approximately 4.6 seconds.

The 2016 BMW M2 is expected to be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, before going into production in November.
