Following a rumor from last September, Volvo has confirmed they are working on a more luxurious XC90.

The company's vice-president of product strategy Lex Kerssemakers has announced the second generation XC90 is about to receive a luxed-up version but refused to elaborate on the topic. However, there's a report indicating the seven-seat layout of the standard model will be replaced with a four-seat configuration featuring individual rear seating. It is believed the passengers sitting in the back will benefit from electrically-adjustable seats with massaging function and extendable squabs.

Interestingly, these rear seats will be installed further back compared to the position of the middle bench found in the regular version as a method to enable "exceptional" rear legroom and create the feeling of a lounge-like cabin.

It is believed the higher specification Volvo XC90 will be sold only in select markets, with China being the most important country which is why the model will be revealed at Auto Shanghai 2015 set to kick off on April 20 with the first press day.
