The 2016 Kia Optima has been spied undergoing cold weather testing in Scandinavia.
Dressed in heavy camouflage, the prototypes have a sporty front fascia with a prominent grille that is flanked by sweptback headlights. We can also see an upward sweeping beltline, a dual exhaust system and longer rear doors.
Our spies couldn't get close enough to snap interior photos but previous shots have shown the car will have a a three-spoke steering wheel, chrome trim and an infotainment system. The center stack is also angled towards the driver for easier access to commonly used controls.
Engine options are expected to mimic the Hyundai Sonata so choices could include a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 185 bhp (138 kW) and 178 lb-ft (241 Nm) of torque as well as a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that develops 245 bhp (182 kW) and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) of torque.
