Set to debut later this year, the redesigned model will be slightly larger than its predecessor and feature evolutionary design. The cars are heavily camouflaged but we can see door-mounted mirrors, a larger rear spoiler and a revised tailgate. The cars also have new headlights and boomerang-shaped LED taillights.

Opel has been tight-lipped about specifications but the model will ride on the D2XX platform that underpins the 2016 Chevrolet Volt which recently debuted at the North American International Auto Show.

The 2016 Astra will also feature an assortment of newer engines including a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder that produces 115 PS (85 kW) and 166 Nm (122 lb-ft) of torque.
