Shelby American has unveiled the 2015 Shelby GT.

Based on the Ford Mustang GT, the car features a carbon fiber body kit that includes a front splitter, side skirts and a rear diffuser. The model also has a ventilated carbon fiber hood, carbon fiber mirror caps and a carbon fiber rear spoiler.

The Shelby GT also has a revised grille, body stripes and special badging. There's also a fake gas cap and 20-inch alloy wheels with Michelin tires.

Interior changes are limited but the model comes with embroidered headrests, carbon fiber trim and a dash plaque. Other notable highlights include "Shelby GT" door sill plates and Shelby branded floor mats.

Power is provided by a 5.0-liter V8 engine that has been equipped with a sports exhaust system and a Ford Racing supercharger. Thanks to these modifications the engine develops more than 627 bhp (467 kW).

If that's not powerful enough, customers can order a performance package which increases the output to more than 700 bhp (522 kW).

Besides the upgraded engine, the car has Ford Racing half-shafts and a Ford Racing handling package that includes upgraded shocks, springs and sway bars. There's also Wilwood front brakes and a Ford Racing short throw shifter (on models equipped with a manual transmission).

The package costs $39,995 excluding the price of the Mustang GT. The company is currently accepting orders and the first deliveries are scheduled for the second quarter of 2015.
