Toyota recently offered rivals the royalty free use of approximately 5,680 fuel cell related patents but Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche has said he's not interested.

Speaking to Deutsche Presse-Agentur at the sidelines of the Consumer Electronics Show, Zetsche the offer is just a "PR move" like Tesla did with their battery technology last summer. The second part of that statement is interesting as Daimler held a stake in Tesla but sold it off in October.

While Zetsche declined Toyota's offer, he went on to say Mercedes already has "hydrogen technology at the same level as Toyota."
