A new report coming from Italy says the highly anticipated Alfa Romeo sedan will receive the Giulia nameplate after all.

Codenamed "Tipo 952", the long-awaited mid-size sedan from Alfa Romeo is expected to be called Giulia, even though a recent report indicated the use of a different moniker. However, there's a twist as Giulia will be used only on the European version whereas the US-spec model is bound to receive a different designation, possibly "6C".

If the "6C" turns out to be true, it can only mean the new Alfa will be offered exclusively with six-cylinder engines but from what we know so far the car will get mostly four-cylinder gasoline and diesel motors. The report goes on to specify the possibility of using the "Giulia 1750" or "Giulia 6C" names, but nothing is official at this moment.

We won't have to wait much longer as the new Alfa is expected to be revealed in June. It will ride on the Maserati-developed Giorgio rear-wheel drive platform and it has already been spied testing with a Ghibli body. A range-topping GTA version is believed to be in the works with a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine rated at around 520 bhp (387 kW).
