Following an announcement made a few days ago, Tesla Motors CEO has disclosed some preliminary details about the updated Roadster.

In its current configuration, the Tesla Roadster's 6,831 lithium-ion cells provide enough juice for a range of around 245 miles (394 km) but next year's update will increase the maximum travelling distance without recharging to almost 400 miles (644 km). Details about the charging time are not available at this point but we remind you the current version needs three and a half hours for a complete recharge using the Tesla High Power Wall Connector at 240 volts and 70 amps.

Other upgrades have also been developed and will be detailed very soon and these might have something to do with the Roadster's performances so expect the acceleration and top speed numbers to be improved compared to today's 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) run in 3.9 seconds and 125 mph (201 km/h) maximum speed.
