Hyundai has announced they hired former BMW M chief engineer Albert Biermann to "spur the development of high-performance cars."

Biermann will become an executive vice president and will begin working for the company in April. He will be responsible for overseeing the testing and development of future high-performance models.

Hyundai was coy on specifics but said his recruitment will "pave the way for Hyundai-Kia to go head to head with European premium carmakers." The automaker also noted Biermann will help them develop cars with "more sophisticated steering" and a more emotional driving experience.
