Renault is planning to launch a new range of budget vehicles with the first one to be revealed next summer, a recent report says.
According to the French Les Echos newspaper, ten years after launching the Dacia Logan low-cost vehicle, the brand will take its second step in the budget market. A final decision for the new lineup should be taken by early 2015.
The report says the range will consists of four models with prices starting at around 3,500 EUR (4,350 USD). They will be based on a new platform, called the CAMM, developed in co-operation with Nissan. Renault is planning a sedan, a hatchback, a SUV and a 7-seater model.
Our source also claims the vehicles will be manufactured in Renault’s plant in Tangier, Morocco, if the lineup reaches the European market. The first model will be offered in India from next summer, while South American countries will follow in the coming years.
