A recent study has revealed Mercedes-Benz owners in China are the wealthiest.
The Shanghai-based Hurun Research Institute held focus groups and surveyed 800 premium car owners in ten cities in the country to find out what are the characteristics of owners of the different brands.
According to the survey, the average premium car owner in China is 33.5 years old and has an annual income of 984,000 yuan (160,318 USD). Mercedes owners have the highest household assets at 11.3M yuan (1.84M USD), while Infiniti drivers have the lowest average wealth among the surveyed brands at 6.44M (1.04M USD).
The study also says Audi, the best-selling luxury brand in China, is associated with government bureaucrats, while BMW buyers and owners are members of the new rich. Cadillac drivers are likely “white-collar workers”, while Lexus brand has no clear owner attributes.
