BMW Board Member Peter Schwarzenbauer has revealed MINI will reduce their lineup to just five "superhero" models.

BMW Board Member Peter Schwarzenbauer has revealed MINI will reduce their lineup to just five "superhero" models.

Speaking at an event in Germany, Schwarzenbauer said each of their "superhero" models will have their own personality and unique capabilities. The executive declined to elaborate but the superhero models are expected to include the Cooper three-door, Cooper five-door, Cooper convertible, Countryman and Clubman.

Schwarzenbauer was tight-lipped on details but MINI USA Product Planning Manager Patrick McKenna recently said the Coupe and Roadster will be phased out next year. Previous reports have also suggested the Paceman will be dropped when the Countryman is redesigned.

Besides announcing plans to reduce their lineup, Schwarzenbauer confirmed an electric vehicle is coming “soon.”
