The eighth generation Volkswagen Golf will be offered with a new 10-speed automatic transmission, according to a new report.
Auto Express says the DSG gearbox will be available for the GTI, GTD and R models. It will be the same size as the current 7-speed DSG and will be designed for a peak torque of 550 Nm. The report also claims the transmission will put less stress on the engine, thus improving CO2 emissions and reducing fuel consumption.
According to a previous report, the Golf VIII will be revealed in 2017, while the current generation will likely receive a facelift next year. The new hatch will get a more potent version of the 2.0 BiTDI, recently introduced with the new Passat, which will power the GTD version.
