The 2015 BMW X5 M and X6 M have made their world debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show this week.
Two of the most opulent production cars showcased these days in Los Angeles are the BMW X5 M and X6 M, with both of them sharing a V8 4.4-liter twin-turbo engine rated at 567 bhp (423 kW) and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm). The high-performance SAVs have an all-wheel drive system receiving the engine’s power from an 8-speed M Steptronic gearbox which allows the duo to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) from a standstill in only 4.2 seconds before topping out at an electronically-limited 155 mph (250 km/h).
The cars ride on massive 21-inch alloy wheels wrapped around in Michelin Pilot Super Sport UHP tires and come with aggressive bodies featuring ventilated front fenders, rear diffuser and a menacing quad exhaust system. Inside the cabin there are numerous M goodies such as the steering wheel, door sill plates along with a four-zone climate control system, an aluminum trim and a Harman Kardon sound system.
Sales of both models are scheduled to commence next spring in United States from $99,650 for the X5 M whereas the X6 M kicks off at $103,050. Opt for the latter and you get a high-riding vehicle just as fast around the Nürburgring Nordschleife as the M3 Coupe (E92).
