Opel has announced the Adam S has a starting price in Germany of €18,690 (including VAT).
After being introduced last month at the Paris Motor Show, the Opel Adam S is now available on order at home in Germany for those who want a stylish and powerful city car. It sits on top of the Adam range and makes use of a punch four-cylinder 1.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine developing 150 HP (110 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) of torque. Power is channeled to the front axle via a six-speed manual transmission.
Opel says the Adam S needs 8.5 seconds to complete the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint and 7.9 seconds from 50 to 75 mph (80 to 120 km/h) before reaching a maximum speed of 130 mph (210 km/h).
Aside from being quite powerful, the engine manages to remain frugal as it enables the model to have a fuel consumption of 6.4 liters / 100 km (36.7 mpg US / 44.1 mpg UK) also helped by the implementation of a start/stop system.
Besides getting an uprated engine, the Opel Adam S benefits from a retuned steering system, beefier brakes, sport-tuned suspension and optional 18-inch Typhoon alloy wheels matched with red brake calipers. Pay an extra €1,300 and you also get sport pedals and a set of front Recaro sport seats.
Deliveries of the Opel Adam S are programmed to begin early 2015 but those who are interested can place an order right away in Germany.
