Mitsubishi has officially unveiled the 2015 Triton in Thailand.
Previewed by the GR-HEV concept, the redesigned Triton features a familiar design but adopts a new front fascia with a prominent grille that is flanked by LED-infused headlights. The truck also has curvaceous body work, a uniquely shaped bed and distinctive taillights.
The interior is a little plain but higher-end variants feature leather upholstery, gloss black trim and metallic accents. We can also see a three-spoke steering, a rotary four-wheel drive controller and an infotainment system with a seven-inch display. Mitsubishi also says the truck will come with more comfortable seats that have longer and wider cushions.
Under the hood, four different engines will be available including:
- A 2.4-liter petrol with 128 PS (94 kW) and 194 Nm (143 lb-ft) of torque
- A 2.4-liter turbodiesel with 181 PS (133 kW) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque
- A 2.5-liter turbodiesel with 128 PS (94 kW) and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque
- A 2.5-liter turbodiesel with 178 PS (131 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque
Depending on which engine is selected, it can be paired to a five- or six-speed manual or an optional five-speed automatic transmission.
The Triton is currently on sale in Thailand and it will eventually be sold in approximately 150 other countries.
