Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche has revealed some new details about their tie-up with MV Agusta.

Speaking to Automotive News Europe, Zetsche said their decision to purchase a 25 percent stake in the Italian motorcycle manufacturer was primarily motivated by cross-marketing opportunities. He went on to say AMG customers have a lot in common with MV Agusta customers so it makes sense to market to both of them.

In order to leverage their partnership, Mercedes will reportedly begin selling MV Agusta motorcycles at selected AMG performance centers. The move should help to increase showroom traffic and hopefully AMG and MV Agusta sales.

While Daimler will have a seat on MV Agusta's board, Zetsche downplayed their role by saying the company won't decide which engines are used in MV Agusta motorcycles and Mercedes has no interest in becoming a motorcycle manufacturer.
