This is most likely the first record crash concerning the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible.

The accident took place last weekend on the I-94 highway in Michigan and involved a pre-production unit which had manufacturer license plates. Due to the slippery wet road, the drive lost control of the high-performance convertible and in the process it hit another car before coming to a full stop in the protective wire barriers. It wasn't the regular Z06 Convertible as the vehicle was equipped with the optional Z07 Performance Pack priced at $7,995 and bringing Brembo ceramic-matrix brake rotors, larger winglets, adjustable rear spoiler and Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup tires.

Customer deliveries of the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will begin early next year for those willing to pay the $83,995 starting price. In return they will get a supercharged V8 6.2-liter engine developing 650 bhp (485 kW) and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) channeled to the wheels through either a seven-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

At an additional $2,995, Chevrolet is offering an optional carbon fiber kit with a larger rear spoiler, side skirts and front splitter which are all made from the same lightweight yet durable material.
