BMW M project manager Herbert Bayerl has revealed the 2015 X6 M is as fast as the M3 Coupe (E92) on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
Bayerl declined to say the model's actual time but the M3 Coupe can complete a lap in 8 minutes and five seconds. This would make the 2015 X6 M about 20 seconds faster than its predecessor.
More importantly, if the 8:05 time is correct, the 2015 X6 M would become one of the fastest crossovers to ever lap the Nürburgring. While Nürburgring times are hardly official, Land Rover claimed the 2015 Range Rover Sport SVR was fastest SUV on the Nürburgring when it lapped the Nordschleife in 8 minutes and 14 seconds.
As a refresher, the 2015 BMW X6 M has a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine that develops 567 bhp (423 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission and an all-wheel drive system which enables it to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds before hitting a limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
