The 2015 Skoda Fabia is set to reach European dealerships next month and the manufacturer has released a massive batch of new photos.
The third generation of the model uses 50% of VW’s MQB modules platform and approximately 40% of PQ26 and is 65 kg (143 lbs) lighter than its predecessor in the entry level model tipping the scales at 980 kg (2,160 lbs). It will be offered as a five-door hatchback and a five-door Combi, offering a 530 liters (18.7 cu-ft) trunk.
The engine lineup includes four petrol and three diesel engines meeting Euro 6 emissions standards with power ranging from 60 HP (44 kW) to 110 HP (81 kW). They are all fitted with a start-stop system and a brake energy recovery system and can be mated to manual or DSG automatic transmissions.
The most fuel-efficient version will be released in 2015 and will be offer with a 1.4 TDI unit with 75 HP (55 kW) with an average fuel consumption of 3.1 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of only 82 g/km.
The new Fabia will be available with a range of customization options for the first time. It includes four different roof colors and several interior color schemes.
Skoda is again offering its Simply Clever features for the model. Among them there’s an ice scraper in the fuel filler cap, a multimedia device cradle in the center console, bigger storage for bottles in the rear doors and glove compartment, parking ticket holder on the left-side A-pillar and two optional hooks in the trunk. The 2015 Fabia is the company’s first model to come with MirrorLink technology that drivers to control smartphone apps from the infotainment screen via a USB connection.
The new Skoda Fabia is about to be launched in the European market this coming November, followed by the launch of the Fabia Combi at the beginning of 2015.
