Volvo's Senior Vice President of Research and Development has revealed the company will eventually return to building coupes and convertibles.

Speaking to Motoring, Peter Mertens said the company is currently focused on redesigning their existing lineup but once that's complete "we are going to think about beautiful and sporty cars" such as coupes and convertibles. The executive declined to elaborate but previous reports have suggested the company is considering a production version of the stunning Concept Coupe.

In related news, Mertens confirmed we will see the range-topping S90 sometime next year. He declined to go into specifics but said the model will be built on the SPA platform and be "stunningly beautiful."
