The awkward-looking Dartz Kombat Gold Russian China Edition has been photographed in Tangshan, China.

It represents the work of Latvian specialty marque Dartz and is based on the Kombat SUV but with several changes such as the gold paint and beefy tires. It also received 7cm thick body armor, silver shiny alloy wheels together with custom side steps.

All the added content has increased the vehicle’s weight to more than 3,000 kg (6,613 lbs) while under the blocky hood is a V8 8.0-liter engine sourced from General Motors delivering 456 bhp (340 kW).

The vehicle had a hefty price tag of 9.18M yuan or $1.44M according to the exchange rate of September 2011 when the car came out exclusively in China.

If the name Dartz rings a bell, that’s because they are the “brains” behind other ostentatious projects such as the Mercedes-Benz G-Class iTempter, Black Snake, MOJO, Jo-MOJO and Prombron Nagel, just to name a few.
