The Opel Calibra recently celebrated its 25th anniversary and it appears the automaker hasn't forgotten about the iconic coupe.

In a recent interview with Auto Express, Vauxhall Managing Director Tim Tozer hinted the company could eventually offer a new Calibra. As he explained, “We need to walk before we can run, but could it happen when we launch the new Insignia."

Tozer also revealed the next-generation Astra will be significantly lighter than its predecessor. He declined to go into specifics but hinted the current model is about 200 kg (441 lbs) too heavy. The executive also downplayed the possibility of an electric variant by saying the car wasn't created to have battery-electric powertrain.
