Opel design director Malcolm Ward has revealed some new details about the 2016 Insignia.

Speaking to CarAdvice, Ward said “I can assure you it’s one of the most beautiful cars you will have seen in years. It’s absolutely gorgeous."

Ward declined to go into specifics but said the model will be heavily influenced by the Monza concept which was unveiled at last year's Frankfurt Motor Show. The designer also revealed the car will be about the same size as the outgoing model.

Ward was coy on powertrain details but hinted the next-generation Insignia will be significantly more economical as engineers are "seriously talking" about CO2 emissions as low as 75 g/km.
