A massive Renault Clio Super 1600 crash was very close to provoking serious injuries to rally spectators last weekend in Italy.
First of all, it goes without saying that spectators are way too close to the action and the organizers of the rally should be heavily penalized for their poor judgement. The crash occurred last weekend in Italy at the Jolly Rally organized in Aosta Valley when Piero Scavone driving a Renault Clio Super 1600 tackled the corner too fast and wasn't able to brake in time to control the vehicle.
On the outside of the corner there were several spectators sitting very close to the track but miraculously none of them were injured after the Clio's heavy crash. However, the driver along with navigator Diego D'Hérin were taken to the local hospital to receive the necessary medical care but will be ok as the injuries are not serious.
