French specialty marque Venturi has introduced the America electric buggy at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.

Perhaps the most peculiar vehicle on display nowadays at the Paris Motor Show is the Venturi America, an electric buggy set to enter limited production of only 25 units each priced at £290,000. The two-seater is an evolution of a concept revealed back in 2012 and comes with an increased ride height granting a generous 280mm ground clearance.

Power is provided by an electric motor producing 400 HP (295 kW) and an instant torque of 354 lb-ft (480 Nm) which is enough for a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in 4.5 seconds and a 0-124 mph (0-200 km/h) sprint in 14 seconds before topping out at 137 mph (220 km/h). The 53 kWh battery pack promises to offer a maximum range of 155 miles (250 km) while a full recharge will take three and a half hours.

The Venturi America is 4125mm long, 2060mm wide and 1450mm tall, with a 2670mm wheelbase and a rather hefty 1,525 kg (3,362 lbs) curb weight. It sits on 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped around in Michelin Latitude Sport tires and benefits from a carbon Kevlar aluminum chassis covered with composite carbon body panels.

Venturi has announced production of the America electric buggy will begin next year at the company's factory in Le Mans.
