Land Rover has staged the public debut of the 2015 Discovery Sport on an 80-meter (262 foot) long barge in Paris.

The barge traveled down the Seine river and onlookers were treated to a dynamic debut as the Discovery Sport tackled steep inclines and a water pit. British supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley also made a cameo appearance as did seven pairs of "brightly colored, giant-sized Wellington boots" which represent the model's seven-seat interior.

As we have previously reported, U.S. models will powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine four-cylinder engine that develops 240 bhp (179 kW) and 250 lb-ft (338 Nm) of torque. In Europe, there will also be a 2.2-liter SD4 turbodiesel engine that produces 190 PS (139 kW).

The Land Rover Discovery Sport will be launched early next year and U.S. pricing will start at $37,995.
