Ford has unveiled their 2020 Vision plan which calls for the automaker to increase global sales - by 45 to 55 percent - to approximately 9.4 million units by the end of the decade.

The company didn't go into specifics but said they "will continue to be a leader in bringing new features to market and will seize opportunities to differentiate itself from competitors."

Ford also revealed that 99 percent of its global sales volume will come from models based on nine platforms by 2016. However, the company will eventually reduce that use eight platforms in the long-term.

The plan also calls for Lincoln to triple their annual sales to approximately 300,000 units by 2020. In order to achieve this ambitious goal, Lincoln will launch the redesigned MKX next year and an "all-new, full-size sedan will follow soon after." The company also confirmed plans to add to additional models to their lineup by the end of the decade.
