GMC's Denali lineup has proved to be a hit with consumers so it comes as little surprise that Buick-GMC Vice President Duncan Aldred is pushing for a Canyon Denali.

In an interview with Automotive News, Aldred said "I'm pushing the engineers and designers to give me a credible Denali [Canyon]." The executive declined to say when the model could arrive but he reiterated that it would have to be a proper Denali model.

Despite the lack of details, a Canyon Denali would likely feature familiar styling cues including a mesh grille, body-color bumpers and larger alloy wheels. We can also expect an upgraded interior with premium leather upholstery, wood trim and Bose audio system - among other things. There could also be a 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces at least 305 bhp (227 kW) and 269 lb-ft (364 Nm) of torque.
