Ford has taken the wraps off their new Transit Prisoner Transport Vehicle (PTV) concept.
Designed to securely transport prisoners between police stations and jails / prisons, the Transit PTV was jointly developed with Pennsylvania-based Havis Prisoner Transport Solutions.
Ford didn't have much to say about the concept itself but confirmed it can carry as many as 12 prisoners in three separate compartments.
Since the concept was designed for police use, it features police livery and red and blue flashing lights. The cabin has also been equipped with a police radio and a special control panel that has functions for everything from the flood lights to the gun locks.
According to Ford police marketing manager Jonathan Honeycutt, "The Transit PTV is the latest example of Ford’s deep commitment to helping provide law enforcement agencies with capable vehicles. This concept proves Transit is upfit-ready and designed to Built Ford Tough standards.”
