An official image of the 2015 Fiat 500X crossover has surfaced the web ahead of next month's reveal at the Paris Motor Show.

It was July 2012 when saw the Fiat 500X's design during a media launch organized for the slow-selling 500L in Turin, Italy and now an official image of the petite crossover has emerged. Aside from the different alloy wheels, there aren't any visual differences between the two cars which indicates Fiat finalized the design more than two years ago.

Sharing the same platform with the Jeep Renegade, Fiat's 500-badged crossover will be offered with an array of four-cylinder MultiAir and MultiJet II borrowed from its American cousin and should get a 4x4 system on the more expensive versions. Those engines will likely work with a six-speed manual gearbox, a nine-speed automatic or a dual-clutch DDCT.

Full details and images could be released in the days to come since the Fiat 500X is programmed to premiere early October at the Paris Motor Show. It will go on sale before the end of the year and will have to face some stiff competition coming from the Nissan Juke, Renault Captur and the forthcoming Honda HR-V.
