The Peugeot RCZ isn't expected to live into a second-generation but PSA Peugeot Citroen Chairman Carlos Tavares has revealed the company is committed to sporty cars.

Speaking to Auto Express, Tavares said "Our brands need sports cars, but they’ll be more sporty derivatives than bespoke models.” This seems to suggest the company will focus on building high-performance variants of existing models instead of building purpose-built sports cars like the RCZ.

Speaking of the latter, Tavares won't confirm it's getting the axe but hinted the “RCZ has a little while to run yet.”
