Smart has announced a limited-run Disney Edition of the ForTwo Electric Drive which will be sold exclusively in Japan.
To our knowledge, it's the first time Mickey Mouse is associated with a special edition model and this one will be finished in a combination of four colors (used by the Disney character): yellow (mirrors), white (wheels), black (tridion cell) and red (body). Inside the cabin there are leather-wrapped seats with red stitching and "edition Disney" lettering also found on the floor mats.
There aren't any mechanical changes so the Smart ForTwo Electric Drive Disney Edition is powered by the same 55 kW & 130 Nm magneto electric motor working together with a 17.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It runs the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 11.5 seconds and tops out at 78 mph (125 km/h) while the maximum range stands at 90 miles (145 km). Once the battery is depleted, a full refill will take seven hours with the regular charger but in select markets Smart is offering an optional 22 kW on-board charger which fills up the battery in only 60 minutes.
Developed through the Brabus tailor-made program, the model costs ¥3,990,000 and will be sold in 40 examples which will start reaching customers from December.
