Following some revealing spy photos earlier this year, Lotus has announced plans to offer a street-legal version of the Elise S Cup R.
Set to be called the Elise S Cup, the model follows in the footsteps of the race car and adopts an aerodynamic body kit that includes a front splitter, winglets, barge boards, a rear diffuser, a rear wing and a fixed roof. Lotus says this will enable the car to produce 66 kg (145 lbs) of downforce at 100 mph (62 mph) and 125 kg (275 lbs) of downforce at its top speed.
Besides the aerodynamic body kit, the Elise S Cup has been equipped with matte silver mirrors, a sport-tuned suspension and 16- / 17-inch lightweight alloy wheels with a satin black finish. The model also has a cloth / SuedeTex sport seats, a roll cage and a Dynamic Performance Management system - among other things.
Power is provided by a supercharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that produces Pro. It is connected to a six-speed manual transmission which enables the 932 kg (2054 lb) car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 140 mph (225 km/h).
According to Lotus CEO Jean-Marc Gales, “The Lotus Elise S Cup is all about the pure driving experience with the Lotus attributes of high performance, light weight and excellent ride and handling. It is perfect for the driver who desires a quick, authentic, desirable and competitive sports car.”
The car is currently available to order and will cost around €47,500.
