Audi has taken the wraps off the 2015 A6 facelift range which comes with a series of styling and mechanical tweaks.

The design revisions are moderate at best but include an updated singleframe front grille, revised headlights & taillights along with slightly modified bumpers, side sills and exhaust pipes. At an additional cost, the A6 range can be optionally configured with LED or matrix LED headlights which work with dynamic turn signals.

More important changes have occurred under the hood where all three TFSI and five TDI engines now meet the Euro 6 emission standard. A 1.8 TFSI ultra has joined the range and allows the A6/A6 Avant have a fuel consumption of only 5.7 liters / 100 km (41.3 mpg US or 49.5 mpg UK) with 133 g/km of CO2 emissions. There's also a 2.0 TDI ultra with 150 PS (110 kW) that consumes just 4.2 liters / 100 km (56 mpg US or 67.2 mpg UK) and has 109 g/km CO2 emissions. The TDI-powered model also comes with glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) springs bringing a weight reduction of 4.4 kg (9.7 lbs). Both ultra models come with a newly developed S tronic transmisson.

The A6 range is also available with an updated 3.0 TDI clean diesel engine with 218 PS (160 kW) and 272 PS (200 kW). There's a bi-turbo version of the same engine rated at 320 PS (235 kW) along with a beefier 326 PS (240 kW) variant in the A6/A6 Avant 3.0 TDI competition where for a short amount of time it can develop 346 PS (255 kW).

Opt for the S6 or S6 Avant and you get a 4.0 TFSI bi-turbo V8 engine unleashing 450 PS (331 kW) allowing the high performance sedan hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.4 seconds whereas the wagon is 0.2 seconds slower. The RS6 Avant packs a 560 PS (512 kW) punch from its 4.0 TFSI motor and completes the sprint in just 3.9 seconds before topping out at 189.5 mph (305 km/h).

Audi says deliveries of the refreshed A6 range will kick off this fall, with pricing in Germany starting at 38,400 EUR for the A6 1.8 TFSI. Up next is the A6 Avant 1.8 TFSI at 40,900 EUR, the A6 allroad quattro 3.0 TDI at 56,650 EUR and the S6 from 75,400 EUR. The range-topping RS6 Avant begins at 108,900 EUR.
