Hyundai has released new details and official photos for the European specification of the new i20.
The two-tone interior of the vehicle features soft-touch materials that ensure “the i20's perceived interior quality is among the best in the segment”. The South Korean manufacturer has used the so-called Thermal Plastic Olefin (TPO) material that is "highly durable".
Notable features include automatic folding door mirrors, front and rear parking assist and an integrated seven-inch satellite navigation system with USB and auxiliary connectivity fitted as standard.
Christian Loer, head of product management and pricing at Hyundai Motor Europe, commented that “the dash and the door materials are the first a potential customer touches after the steering wheel, so these need to be good quality and, most importantly, soft”.
At launch, in Europe the model will be offered with a lineup of four different engines. The gasoline units are a 1.25-liter in versions with 75 PS (55 kW) and 84 PS (62 kW), working with a 5-speed manual gearbox, and a range-topping 1.4-liter with 100 PS (73 kW) available with a 6-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission.
On the diesel side clients can opt for a 1.1-liter with 75 PS (55 kW) or a 1.4-liter with 90 PS (66 kW), both mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
