The crossover segment is booming and German automakers are continuing to add high-performance variants like the GLA 45 AMG and the RS Q3. However, Lexus will eschew this trend.
Speaking to Car Advice, Lexus F chief engineer Yukihiko Yaguchi said the company doesn't have any plans for F crossovers. As he explained, "To have an F badge, the car needs to have the characteristics to be able to run on track and be a race car."
While Yaguchi ruled out full-on F models, he hinted we can expect more F Sport variants. These typically eschew performance upgrades for styling and interior tweaks.
