Mercedes has introduced the entry-level SL400 in the United States.

Designed to slot below the SL550, the SL400 features a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine that develops 329 bhp (245 kW) and 354 lb-ft (479 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a seven-speed automatic transmission which enables the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds and return 20 mpg city / 27 mpg highway (US).

Despite its entry-level status, the convertible comes nicely equipped with heated leather seats, a panoramic glass roof and burl walnut or black ash trim. Other highlights include a harman/kardon audio system and GPS navigation.

Pricing starts at $84,925 which makes the it $22,900 less expensive than the SL550.
