The first pictures depicting the Chevrolet Niva concept have leaked to the web, ahead of official debut during the Moscow Motor Show.
According to our source, this photos have been published in the latest issue of the Russian Autoreview magazine. The report says the overall length of the vehicle will be 4316 mm, which is 260 mm longer than the current generation of the SUV. It retains its dependent rear suspension, while the front suspension is replaced by McPherson struts.
The concept car that previews the next generation of the off-roader features a permanent all-wheel drive and a 1.8-liter Peugeot-sourced naturally aspirated petrol engine with 135 bhp (100 kW). It is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox from General Motors. This layout is expected to be carried over to the production model. Diesel unit is reportedly not in the works due to the high development costs.
Additional equipment of the concept vehicle includes a snorkel, an engine protection on the front axle, a roof rack with attached spare wheel and 16-inch wheels with off-road tires.
The Chevolet Niva concept will be officially unveiled tomorrow at the Moscow Motor Show.
