Skoda has released a couple of additional teaser images of the third generation Fabia.

You can tell how important the overhauled Fabia is for Skoda judging by the number of teasers and preliminary details shared prior to a full reveal likely to occur in the days to come. In these latest teaser images we see the 2015 Fabia wearing a Race Blue paint featuring the familiar corporate grille and Polo facelift-derived blackened headlights with LED daytime running lights.

Reaching its third generation, the 2015 Fabia will use an evolution of the PQ25 platform which underpins the outgoing model and it will shave off up to 65 kg (143 lbs), thus enabling the base model to weigh just 980 kg (2,160 lbs). Skoda has already announced the model will be offered in hatchback and wagon body styles while the vRS variant has been axed due to poor sales.

The Czech Polo will be powered by a full Euro 6-compliant engine lineup starting out with a 3-cylinder 1.0-liter MPI rated at 60 PS (44 kW). There will also be a larger 4-cylinder 1.2-liter TSI with 110 PS (81 kW) as well as a newly developed 3-cylinder 1.4-liter turbodiesel rated at 75 PS (55 kW) and 105 PS (77 kW).

The 75 PS 1.4 TDI variant will also be installed in the economical Fabia GreenLine set for a late 2015 launch. Equipped with low-rolling resistance tires, improved aerodynamics, start/stop and kinetic energy recuperation, the frugal Fabia will consume just 3.1 liters / 100 km (75.8 mpg US or 91.1 mpg US) with 82 g/km of CO2 emissions.

Look for an online debut in the next few days, with a public debut programmed to take place at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October. Sales will kick off before the end of the year.
