Porsche decided to prove how nimble and agile the Cayman GTS is by taking it to a go-kart track.
Currently sitting on top of the Cayman range, the GTS headed to a go-kart track in northern Italy where it showcased its great handling capabilities around tight corners without breaking a sweat. For this video, Porsche selected the Mantova indoor karting circuit which is the biggest of this type in Europe.
The Cayman GTS has a flat-six 3.4-liter boxer engine with 340 PS (250 kW) & 370 Nm (273 lb-ft) and comes fitted as standard with the Sport Chrono Package. When configured with the optional PDK, it will do the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in 4.6 seconds en route to a top speed of 177 mph (285 km/h) when equipped with the standard six-speed manual transmission.
If that's not impressive enough, Porsche is working on a "GT4" derivative which is said to use a 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six rated at 450 PS (331 kW) but this sounds a bit too optimistic so the output will probably a lot less yet still considerably higher than the GTS. A reveal is expected to occur as early as next year and besides the added oomph it will also pack a fixed rear wing, more aggressive body and larger wheels. Also on the menu should be a function rear diffuser, larger brakes and a stiffer sports suspension.
