The highly anticipated Audi RS3 has been spied once again flexing its muscles around the Nordschleife.

Audi is putting the finishing touches on the next-gen RS3 as a prototype was seen testing on the Nürburgring carrying the brand's famous 2.5-liter 5-cylinder TFSI turbocharged gasoline engine. Like all RS models it will pack a quattro all-wheel drive system receiving power from an already confirmed DSG transmission while a manual gearbox is also being considered.

Quattro GmbH Managing Director Heinz Hollerweger recently announced the Audi RS3 will be introduced next year with a power output of "around 360 bhp (268 kW)." In addition, he also said they are analyzing the prospects of a 400 bhp (298 kW) version but we should wait and see if a more potent variant will materialize.

The prototype seen here is of the five-door Sportback body style but Hollerweger said an RS3 Sedan is possible as a follow-up to the A3 clubsport quattro concept which was created to gauge feedback from American and Chinese clients. Chances are their reaction was positive and the 2015 RS3 will also be offered as a sedan.
