Ford has announced pricing details for the aluminum-bodied 2015MY F-150 scheduled to go on sale later this year.

Despite switching to an aluminum body which shaves up to 700 lbs (318 kg), Ford has increased the base F-150's price tag by only 395 USD compared to the considerably heavier 2014MY. The entry-level XL model kicks off at 26,615 USD and is followed by the most popular XLT trim at 31,890 USD. The Lariat variant is now 895 USD more expensive than before so it starts at 39,880 USD but in return you get a rearview camera and an eight-inch LCD screen.

Moving upwards in the range, the 2015 Ford King Ranch F-150 costs 49,460 USD (+3,615 USD) while the Platinum version can be had for 52,155 USD (+3,055 USD). The price difference has to do not only with the aluminum body but also with the additional standard equipment offered.

Ford spokesman Mike Levine told Reuters that the XL and XLT trims account for more than 70 percent of F-150 sales and these are only 395 USD more expensive than before. Dealers can already place orders for the 2015 model year and sales are programmed to commence in the months to come.
