Subaru has released a first teaser image of a new sports sedan, called the WRX S4.
Scheduled for a debut on August 25, the vehicle in question will be offered only in Japan and is likely a domestic version of the 2015 WRX. The “S4” in the name probably stands for a 4-door sedan.
The WRX was officially revealed during the Los Angeles Auto Show last year and is already on sale in the USA and Australia. For these two markets the vehicle is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter boxer four-cylinder engine that develops 268 bhp (200 kW) and 258 lb-ft (349 Nm) of torque. This unit will likely be offered in Japan in two versions - one with a six-speed manual transmission and one with a Sport Lineatronic CVT automatic transmission.
In the USA the most affordable 2015 WRX starts from 26,295 USD (19,570 EUR), while the hotter 2015 WRX STI costs 34,495 USD (25,680 EUR). The limited-run WRX STI Launch Edition, produced in only 1,000 examples, kicks off at 37,395 USD (27,800 EUR).
